When Leadership Styles make the Difference
The role of the park manager
adds the aspect of leadership to the game. The degree to which the instructor
officially appoints the park manager as the overall responsible top-manager
determines the extent to which the park manager’s leadership approach
influences the course of the game.
If the seminar purpose is restricted to ITIL whereby leadership and communication pattern should not be explicitly highlighted, the park manager should only have a limited influence on the formation of the teams. In this case the instructor simply assigns players to teams and roles.
If the park manager has a
large degree of freedom in organizing and role allocation within his team, often differences in the managers’ leadership styles have a significant impact on the results of the two teams. The instructor may explicitly choose contrasting
personalities for the park managers’ role in order to emphasize these issue in a subsequent feedback session.
